Oklahoma's commits shine on high school gridiron this week

Before action begins Saturday with the Oklahoma, here’s a quick look at how the Sooners’ current field of commits and their teams performed this week:

Rodney Anderson, RB, Katy High School – Anderson was dominating for Kady, averaging more than nine yards per carry and scoring three touchdowns in a 55-0 victory. He finished with 131 yards on 15 carries, including a 41-yard touchdown run.

Dru Samia, OT, San Ramon Valley High School –Samia and his teammates were definitely tested this week. The Wolves edged Pittsburg, 27-20, in double overtime.

Cody Ford, OG, Pineville High School – In the season opener, Ford’s squad was doomed by turnovers in a 30-7 loss to Captain Shreve. Pineville committed five turnovers and didn’t score until 1:27 remained in the game.

John Humphrey, WR, Clear Falls High School – Humphrey hauled in eight catches for 160 yards and two touchdowns in a 42-41 overtime victory to open the season Thursday.

Kenneth Mann, DE, Burleson High School – Mann finished with two forced fumbles and multiple tackles for loss in his team’s 47-44 loss on Thursday.

Tyrell Jacobs, DE, Archbishop Rummel High Sschool – In a 39-0 season opening victory against East St. John, Jacobs had at least one sack and a second-half safety. He and the defensive front held East St. John to 1.6 yards per carry.

Dominique Hearne, OG, Lancaster High School –The Tigers remained unbeaten with their second victory of the season, dispatching Nolan Catholic, 33-17.

P.J. Mbanasor, CB, Hendrickson High School –Mbanasor helped spark the Hawks to an early lead, Hendrickson cruised to a 49-21 victory against Belton. Hendrickson scored 28 points in the first quarter.

Austin Seibert, K, Belleville High School-West –Seibert hit a 37-yard field goal, and that was the only offense of the game Friday night. It was suspended and is scheduled to be resumed Saturday night.

Marquise Overtone, DT, Jenks High School –Overtone and the Jenks defense pitched a first-half shutout against Bixby for a 66-20 season-opening victory. Jenks led the 6AII No. 2 Bixby squad 42-0 at halftime.

Bobby Evans, OT, Allen High School –Evans, who is of four major conference commits playing for Allen, helped the two-time defending Texas 5A state champions hold on to a 58-53 victory against South Carolina-based Dutch Fork.
