Cloudy Crystal Ball: Game 3

The ground game will be prevalent against Tennessee

Each week of the college football season brings its own set of crazy predictions. Some are out of this world. Some are just lazy and will definitely be achieved. We at Sooners Illustrated have our own set of weekly predictions. See what appears as we gaze into our cloudy crystal ball for Oklahoma’s Game 3 matchup against Tennessee.

Oklahoma will sack Tennessee quarterback four times Saturday night. … The Volunteers don’t run a gimmicky, quick-strike offense or anything special. They sit their pro-style quarterback in the pocket on passing situations and let him find open receivers. That means a stationary target for Eric Striker, Geneo Grissom and Charles Tapper, who is still looking for his first sack.

Tennessee will run for more yards than it passes for. … The best way to beat Oklahoma this year will be to run the football. That doesn’t mean it will be easy, but teams will have to run in order to keep the Sooners’ vaunted pass rush from becoming a part of the game.

Oklahoma will have its first 100-yard rusher this game. … We aren’t entirely sure who it could be, but with the way Oklahoma blocked against Tulsa, there’s a great chance that some (maybe Keith Ford) will finally break that barrier for the Sooners.
