Oklahoma commits face up-and-down week, including possible injury and suspension

Before action begins Saturday with the Sooners, here’s a quick look at how the Sooners’ current field of commits and their teams performed this week:

Rodney Anderson, RB, Katy High School – Anderson had just 77 yards on 17 carries as Katy was overrun by The Woodlands, 24-7. The loss snapped Katy’s 50-game win streak, which started after a loss to The Woodlands in 2009.

Dru Samia, OT, San Ramon Valley High School – Ranked as the No. 2 team in the East Bay, San Ramon Valley was upset, 28-23, by James Logan. Samia watched from the sideline after a violation of team rules, according to coach Aaron Becker as reported in the Contra Costa Times.

Cody Ford, OG, Pineville High School – Pineville’s game against Tioga was suspended due to lightning last night. It will be played at 4 p.m. Saturday. Pineville also recently lost its defensive coordinator, who took a midseason head coaching job at another school this week.

John Humphrey, WR, Clear Falls High School – In at 43-21 loss, John Humphrey was held to just two catches for only seven yards.

Kenneth Mann, DE, Burleson High School – Burleson was routed 34-6 by Brewer, which reportedly ran for more than 400 yards and four touchdowns. Burleson allowed 47 points last week.

Tyrell Jacobs, DE, Archbishop Rummel High School – Jacobs’ team pulled out a 37-31 overtime victory again Hahnville. Rummel (2-0) will play the top ranked team in the Class 5A, Acadiana, next week.

Dominique Hearne, OG, Lancaster High School – After scoring the first touchdown of the game on its opening drive, Lancaster mustered no more, falling, 24-7, to Euless Trinity. Lancaster totaled just 141 yards on offense.

P.J. Mbanasor, CB, Hendrickson High School – Hendrickson suffered its first loss Friday night, 28-21, against San Antonio Brandeis. Mbanasor recovered an early fumble, but San Antonio Brandeis scored the game-winning touchdown with 22 seconds to play.

Austin Seibert, K, Belleville High School-West – Seibert played through a reported groin muscle injury as his team won, 41-0. Seibert made just one extra-point attempt. A teammate made two more and three were missed. Seibert said he will be out one or two weeks.

Marquise Overtone, DT, Jenks High School – Facing consistent double teams, Overtone still made an impact with a handful of tackles and a blocked screen pass, but Jenks watched its 27-game winning streak end at the hands of Tulsa Union, 24-13.

Bobby Evans, OT, Allen High School – Allen rolled over Boyd, 58-28, to remain unbeaten as it gained 497 total yards.
