In focus: OU commit Dalton Wood

Still wondering what Dalton Wood is all about? Here's a short gallery of what OU's newest commit brings to the table.

McAlester (Okla.) High quarterback Dalton Wood won’t come to the Oklahoma City area a lot during his high school days, but the Oklahoma commit was nearby last week.

Sooners Illustrated was there live to watch Wood, a projected tight end for the Sooners, put on a show and what a show it was in a 63-20 victory that had a running clock the entire second half.

Wood rushed for 195 yards and three touchdowns. He threw for 155 yards and three touchdowns and had a kickoff return for a touchdown.

For the season, Wood has rushed for 828 yards on 92 carries, averaging nine yards per attempt with 10 touchdowns. He is 75-of-116 passing for 1,011 yards with 11 touchdowns and one interception. He has two receiving touchdowns to go with his kickoff return score. And he has one interception on defense.

On attending his first OU game last week: “It got pretty loud. I couldn’t imagine playing in front of that many people, but I’m going to have to now. It feels like a dream. I’ve watched them on TV all my life. You sort of think of those players as superstars. Sterling Shepard and all of them as like the best in the country. It’s a life-changing experience.”

Wood is a three-star tight end ranked No. 52 in the nation. He was OU’s 14th commitment for the Class of 2015.
