Sooners' WR commit plays big in loss, in-state TE has another big day

Before action begins Saturday with the Sooners, here’s a quick look at how the Sooners’ current field of commits and their teams performed this week:

Rodney Anderson, RB, Katy High School – In just one half, Anderson rushed for 99 yards and four touchdowns as Katy cruised to a 65-0 victory against Tompkins. He did it all on six carries as Katy remained unbeaten in district play.

Dru Samia, OL, San Ramon Valley High School – Two second-half turnovers couldn’t help San Ramon Valley overcome being shutout in the second half as the Wolves lost, 21-14 to California High.

Cody Ford, OL, Pineville High School – Pineville was bitten by turnovers again this week, fumbling the game in the red zone late in a 25-20 loss to Natchitoches Central. Pineville was driving to tie the game before fumbling at the one-yard line.

John Humphrey, WR, Clear Falls High School – Humphrey found the end zone twice – once receiving and once rushing – but Clear Falls lost again. The 35-28 results was Clear Falls’ seventh straight loss.

Kenneth Mann, DE, Burleson High School – Despite a double-digit lead in the first quarter, Burleson lost, 28-19, to Crowley. It was the third time this season that Burleson has held a double-digit road advantage only to lose. Burleson turned the ball over six times to remain winless on the road.

Tyrell Jacobs, DE, Archbishop Rummel High School – The top-ranked team in the state of Louisiana beat Holy Cross, 31-7. The Raiders defense forced four turnovers and allowed 206 yards of offense.

Dominique Hearne, OL, Lancaster High School – Lancaster was stunned, 31-28, by Arlington Seguin, which scored a game-winning touchdowns with 35 seconds to play.

P.J. Mbanasor, CB, Hendrickson High School – Hendrickson hit the ground hard in a 40-33 victory against Cedar Ridge. The Hawks rushed for 282 yards and five touchdowns.

Austin Seibert, K, Belleville High School-West – Belleville West plays Bradley-Bourbonnais on Saturday.

Marquise Overton, DT, Jenks High School – Shaking off allowing 10 points in the final 14 seconds of the first half, Jenks scored four straight times in the third quarter and rolled to a 41-24 victory to win its sixth straight game – clinching the district title.

Bobby Evans, OL, Allen High School – Allen defeated Plano West, 70-41, to remain unbeaten even with Evans on the bench.

Will Sunderland, DB, Midwest City High School – Sunderland left the first quarter of Midwest City’s 24-22 loss to Lawton. He did not return but said he will be fine for the playoffs in two weeks. On a side note, the game-winning field goal in the game was hit by Lawton’s female kicker, Caitlin Cow, with 1:45 to play.

Jamal Danley, OL, East Mississippi Community College – EMCC plays Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College on Saturday in the MACJC State Semifinals.

Dalton Wood, TE, McAlester High School – Even more touchdowns for Wood in McAlester’s 56-30 victory. Wood scores six times (five passing) and had 231 total yards of offense and McAlester rolled.
