A dominating win on the field for Oklahoma, and the Sooners move up just a little bit more in the college football playoff poll.
OU comes in at No. 15 this week, up three spots from last week following a 59-14 dismantling of Iowa State last weekend.
Still a lot of work, obviously, for the Sooners to do and all they can do is focus on what’s in front of them. For this week, that means a big opportunity to make a national statement.
Baylor comes to town ranked No. 12 in the poll and will be OU’s highest-ranked opponent for the rest of the regular season.
Kansas State, who defeated OU three weeks ago, is now on the cusp of being in the four-team selection at No. 7. TCU, who also defeated OU, is the No. 1-ranked team in the conference at No. 6. The Horned Frogs and Wildcats play Saturday night in Fort Worth, Texas.
The only other piece of news is OU is no longer the highest-ranked two-loss team in the poll. Ole Miss, who has lost in back-to-back weekends, is now No. 11, four spots ahead of the Sooners.
OU is ranked No. 16 in both the coaches and AP polls.
The key selection criteria includes strength of schedule, head-to-head competition, conference champions, common opponents and key injuries. The top 25 is going to be released Tuesday evenings every week until the end of the season.
