Guard sets school record in 25-point, season-opening performance

In Oklahoma's season opener, Buddy Hield scored 25 points and had seven rebounds while shooting 7-for-7 from behind the 3-point arc - a new school record that matched the Big 12 mark.

He was named Big 12 Player of the Week on Monday.

"My teammates did a good job of finding me with the ball," Hield said of his performance. "Hats off to them."

The Sooners cruised to a 78-53 victory in the season opener against Southeastern Louisiana.

Hield shot 9-for-16 and had the most made 3s by an Oklahoma player since Steven Pledger hit seven on Jan. 29, 2011.

Hield played just 28 minutes and also had two assists and a steal.
