SCOTT WHITE, LB, 6'2, 230, 4.58, SAN DIEGO MISSION BAY, CALIFORNIA:
White is one of those linebacker types that seems born to play the position. A three-year starter, White is so gifted that Mission Bay wanted to start him as a sophomore, but they couldn't because he wasn't 15-years old at the time.
White finished with an amazing 181 tackles, 91 solo's, seven sacks, five forced fumbles and one interception. White also played a little running back, tight end and wide receiver on offense. White finished with 290 yards on 19 carries and 10 touchdowns a year ago. As a sophomore, White finished with 71 tackles in just five games. White can bench 305 pounds, squats 420, posted a 32-inch vertical jump and worked on his game at the first-and-ten camp put on by the San Diego Chargers. In the past White has played basketball and participated in track, but will concentrate on football this year and the following offseason to get ready for college football.
"Among the schools that offered, Oklahoma is probably my favorite school," said White. "I also like Notre Dame a lot and they have offered as well. Oklahoma and Notre Dame are my top two schools, but my favorite has always been Florida State and they haven't offered yet. If they offer I will probably go there, but I don't think they have even seen me yet. I don't play at Long Beach Poly or DeLa Salle so we don't get much exposure out of here," said White.
"The fact that OU and Notre Dame have taken a great interest in me means a lot," White continued. "I really like Oklahoma and I have toyed with the idea of committing early to them. I watched the North Carolina game last weekend and really got into the game, because I like them so much. I love the tradition at Notre Dame as well and feel their program is going to stay on the upswing."
"I know that Oklahoma doesn't have a lot of depth at linebacker," says White. "Lehman could move to the outside opening an inside slot for me, and Wilkerson is playing a lot of defensive end. I know they already have a commitment from a big-time guy out of Oklahoma, but I realize that Oklahoma is going to sign some good players at my position. I was very close to committing to them after the North Carolina game. I will definitely visit OU."
