OU signing day primer

It's almost here. Seriously. Get the lowdown on everything that's worth watching for OU this signing day.

Signing day is one day away. Twenty-four hours from now, the pieces to Oklahoma’s 2015 puzzle should all have fallen into place.

Sooners Illustrated has helped you get to know the commits during the last few days and OU has certainly added several. But here is a look at OU targets who will announce on signing day.

Oklahoma City Casady offensive guard Josh Wariboko

Finally. After months and months of back and forth, the No. 2-ranked prospect is going to make his choice between the Sooners, UCLA and Ohio State.

The Buckeyes are there, but in reality, this feels like a pure showdown between OU and the Bruins with fans from both schools feeling incredibly optimistic heading into the announcement.

Wariboko, a one-time OU commit, has made multiple unofficial visits to both campuses and made official visits to both places. OU struck the final blow this last weekend as OU went all-in with Wariboko during the last week.

He is ranked No. 163 in the Scout 300 and is set to announce at 10 a.m. CST Wednesday.

Sooners Illustrated prediction: OU.

Dallas South Oak Cliff safety Prentice McKinney

OU has been recruiting Wariboko for nearly two years. With OU and McKinney, things didn’t heat up until the last week.

The one-time Notre Dame commit is still committed to North Carolina but will announce between the Sooners and Tar Heels.

McKinney was offered more than a year ago by the OU staff but nothing ever really materialized after his pledge to the Irish. But when it became clear Notre Dame wasn’t going to be his destination, everything sort of opened back up.

McKinney was on a surprise official visit last weekend, and it was readily apparent that OU had made the best possible impression possible. Landing McKinney would give OU one fearsome trio at safety for the class.

Dallas South Oak Cliff recruiting coordinator R.J. Bond said the school plans to do its ceremony at 9 a.m. CST so this, too, should be decided early.

Sooners Illustrated prediction: OU.

Reiterstown (Md.) Franklin offensive tackle Patrick Allen

The curious case of Allen will finally have a conclusion. Even though OU has never at one point felt like the favorite, the Sooners keep hanging around.

And that’s still the case heading into Wednesday. Allen is expected to announce between OU and Georgia, and a betting man would pick the Bulldogs.

Allen visited OU in September back when he was committed to Georgia and OU made the best possible impression. But he didn’t decommit from Georgia until much later in the process.

Tennessee also seemed like a potential destination but the Vols came off the board in the last week. OU offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh has never stopped recruiting Allen, and it could pay off.

Allen is set to announce at 7:45 a.m. CST.

Sooners Illustrated prediction: Georgia.

If OU does land Wariboko and McKinney as expected, it would give the Sooners 25 recruits for the class with the outside chance of their being a surprise recruit. OU has been working hard behind the scenes to try to make something happen.

But even if it doesn’t, the additions of Wariboko and McKinney would give OU five commits since Sunday night and would be one heck of a way for OU to close its class.
