The Class of 2016 is about to get rolling in a huge way for Oklahoma as the Sooners will have their first junior day Sunday.
OU enters this week with one commitment. And with the release of the Scout 300 2.0 for the 2016 class, Sooners Illustrated presents 25 realistic targets at this time.
This is not all of the Scout 300 prospects OU has offered, just the ones Sooners Illustrated feels comfortable in saying OU is a legit factor.
Here is part three of a five-part series.
Fresno (Calif.) Clovis West WR Darian Owens (No. 115)
OU was the first offer for Owens, which could mean something as time goes on. Owens is another product of Tony Perry, and OU fans know how beneficial that relationship has been for the Sooners and for Perry. Key with any Cali prospect is to get them on campus so OU doesn’t become out of sight and out of mind.
North Mesquite (Texas) High OT Jean Delance (No. 143)
OU’s lone commit and this is just going to be about making sure he remains as the anchor of the class. Delance committed in November but was at Texas A&M’s junior day last month. Still firm with the Sooners, OU can put some more distance between the rest of the field when he arrives to campus next month for the second junior day.
Lawrence (Kan.) High DL Amani Bledsoe (No. 149)
Bledsoe first came into focus in the spring when he led a group of Lawrence High recruits to OU for the second day of OU’s camp. He didn’t get the offer then, but he did during the fall and made a return trip to OU for Bedlam weekend. The Sooners have positioned themselves with Bledsoe, who continues to rack up top offer after top offer. Montgomery’s departure will be one to track with him.
Hope (Ark.) High DL McTelvin Agim (No. 159)
Agim is another name that has been on OU’s radar for a long time. The offer meant a lot to him last year, and it meant a lot to have him come for OU’s final day of camp in June. Jerry Montgomery has made him a top priority, but Arkansas coaches have absolutely zeroed in on Agim and have visited him every single week it has been allowed. Loss of Montgomery a huge blow.
Manor (Texas) High LB Erick Fowler (No. 160)
Fowler is one of those tweeners that OU and Fowler are going to have to figure out. Is he a defensive end? Is he an outside linebacker? And whichever position OU decides is the case, is Fowler happy with the answer? A lot of questions in this one.
