It has arrived. The winter storms that have nagged at the state in the last two weeks have disappeared. It’s time for Oklahoma’s big day.
You have three events to choose from, all three are noteworthy by themselves. Add them all up, and there might almost be too much going on in Norman.
It’s going to start in the morning with the first spring football practice. Sooners Illustrated has spent the last two weeks dissecting the biggest questions facing Bob Stoops and the Sooners heading into the spring, and now the play on the field can replace the speculation off of it.
Coincidentally, OU is starting spring practice on the exact same day it will be holding its second junior day event. The first one netted one commitment and three offers, and there’s no telling what the one this weekend will bring.
Several Scout 100 prospects have confirmed their attendance and more than 10 offered prospects should be on hand at OU this weekend.
The day will culminate with OU’s showdown against Kansas in the Big 12 basketball regular season finale. The Jayhawks have already wrapped up the conference championship, but the Sooners are looking for another 12-6 conference season as well as some redemption after blowing a 20-point lead in the second half at Iowa State.
With the tip scheduled for 3 p.m., don’t be surprised to see plenty of OU junior day invitees sticking around to watch what should be the best game day atmosphere of the season for Lon Kruger’s crew.
OU baseball also hosts Purdue at 5 p.m. CST if you’re looking for something to do in the evening. From morning until night, it is going to be one big, fun day in Norman.
