OU Opening regional preview: Offense

An incredible number of top OU targets will be heading to Arlington for The Opening regional Sunday. Here are the offensive names to watch.

The best of the best in the Midlands region are headed to Arlington (Texas) Lamar this Sunday for the Nike Opening regional camp.

Instead of splitting Texas up into Dallas and Houston camps, all the talent is converging at one spot this year.

There will almost be too much talent to keep track of this weekend, but here are the top OU targets on the offensive side of the ball to watch.

Del City (Okla.) High’s Terry Wilson

2017 Denton (Texas) Guyer’s Shawn Robinson

Argyle (Texas) Liberty Christian’s Nick Starkel

Who to watch? Starkel. Coming off a great trip to OU last weekend, Starkel will participate in the camp before making a west coast trip for spring break that will include a trip to UCLA. Starkel is another pupil of Joe Dickinson, who has a great relationship with OU quarterbacks coach Lincoln Riley. Starkel already has an offer from Oklahoma State.

Running backs

2017 Wylie (Texas) East’s Eno Benjamin

Houston Stratford’s Rakeem Boyd

Lone Grove (Okla.) High’s Jeremy Lewis

Broken Arrow (Okla.) High’s Jamall Shaw

Beaumont (Texas) Central’s Devwah Whaley

Edmond (Okla.) Santa Fe’s Darran Williams

Houston C.E. King’s Trayveon Williams

Who to watch? Take your pick, but we’ll go with Whaley. Right now Whaley seems like he’s on track to be the No. 1 running back in the state of Texas, and OU certainly takes pride in hitting the Lone Star State for its backs. Whaley was unable to make it to OU’s junior day last weekend so OU will definitely have to be sure he arrives on campus soon.

Wide receivers

Arlington (Texas) Lamar’s Kofi Boateng

Navasota (Texas) High’s Tren’Davian Dickson

Missouri City (Texas) Marshall’s Jeremy Smith

Sachse (Texas) High’s Devin Duvernay

Southlake Carroll (Texas) High’s Zach Farrar

Moore (Okla.) Westmoore’s Deshawn Lookout

Dallas First Baptist’s Camron Williams

Who to watch? Boateng. Half of the Arlington Lamar Fab Four is committed, and Boateng is without an OU offer right now. He attended junior day and was told the Sooners would stop back in during spring evaluation period. A great performance here could accelerate things as Boateng continues to rack up offer after offer.

Offensive linemen

2017 Frisco (Texas) High’s Jack Anderson

Arlington (Texas) Bowie’s Tope Imade

Arlington (Texas) Lamar’s Chris Owens

Copperas Cove (Texas) High’s J.P. Urquidez

2018 Moore (Okla.) Southmoore’s Brey Walker

Broken Arrow (Okla.) High’s Rowdy Frederick

Oklahoma City Heritage Hall’s Luther Harris

Harrah (Okla.) High’s Logan Roberson

Who to watch? Imade. Social media has been very kind to Imade as he has been able to showcase his strength in various short videos on Twitter. Imade visited OU for its first junior day but is without an offer right now. His offer sheet is going to explode during the spring eval period, but it might not take that long if Imade does what he hopes to do this weekend.
