After starting 29 games over the final three years of his career with Oklahoma, offensive tackle Tyrus Thompson chosen by the Minnesota Vikings in the sixth round of the NFL Draft on Saturday.

He was the 185th overall pick in the draft – the second Oklahoma offensive lineman picked this year.

Originally a four-star recruit, Thompson saw action in four straight years after taking a redshirt as a freshman. Thompson was named to the All-Big 12 first team by the conference’s coaches and a second-team selection by the Associated Press.

Thompson was originally projected as a mid-round pick, landing somewhere in between the third and fifth rounds.

Thompson couldn’t run at the NFL combine because of a foot injury but performed at the Oklahoma pro day shortly afterward. He said his foot still wasn’t 100 percent at that time.
