“He’s not with us here right now,” Stoops said.
Wood, a three-star signee, was somebody Stoops spoke very highly of following signing day, but there’s still no guarantee Wood is going to make it to OU when it’s all said and done.
Wood was supposed to report May 31 but didn’t arrive in Norman until a few days later. However, Wood didn’t last the first night there before returning home to McAlester, Okla.
As of now, the door is still open for Wood to be a Sooner, but you have to wonder how much longer the OU staff is going to wait and see if things change.
Wood spoke to Sooners Illustrated on May 29 and seemed incredibly excited about joining the team and moving to Norman. There was nothing to suggest that heading into August, this would still be a point of discussion.
Wood was recruited to be a tight end/H-Back and also mentioned the possibility of moving to defensive line if that didn’t work out.
Although Wood’s status remains up in the air, the rest of the 2015 class has been off to a great start in Norman with summer workouts as several have made the right impressions in their first two months on campus.
