Seibert was ranked one of the best in the country and also earned Under Armour All-American status for his play in his high school career.
But it might be a lot to ask for somebody to go from kicking at a small school in Illinois to kicking in front of 80,000 fans in Norman. Luckily for OU, the Sooners seem to be doing OK in that department because of Nick Hodgson.
Hodgson, a redshirt senior, has been the man for OU with kickoffs but added to his game this spring with doing the field goal kicking as well.
The results were solid across the board, and Bob Stoops announced Hodgson is on scholarship for his final season as a Sooner.
“He was like top five in the country in touchbacks,” Stoops said. “In the spring, he was awesome. In fact we put Nick on scholarship.”
Stoops said Hodgson missed a total of three field goals during the spring and one of them was because of very windy conditions. No idea if Hodgson can kick the deep one, but Stoops said he is very confident in sending Hodgson out there for field goals if that’s how it works out this season.
