OKPreps Week 1 primer

The high school season is almost here, a preview of some of the best games to watch on a week-to-week basis.

We’re one week closer to the season. Not just for Oklahoma but in Oklahoma high school football as well.

To get you geared up, Sooners Illustrated is going to take a week-by-week glance at the top games featuring the most OU interest.

With the focus being purely Sooners, it’s not necessarily the games that feature the most star-studded recruits but the games that have the recruits with the most legitimate OU interest.

OKPreps Week 1

Tulsa Victory Christian at Jones

Why watch: Get the season started with a bang and perhaps the only time OU commit Jon-Michael Terry (Victory Christian) is going to come to the greater Oklahoma City area.

Terry, a high three-star linebacker, committed to the Sooners on Feb. 15 and though other schools have started to show interest, he is 100 percent solid with OU.

He’ll get a great test to kick off his senior season against Jones. The Longhorns feature one of the best (if not the best) in-state quarterback for 2017 with Brandon George and a name to remember already in 2018 wide receiver Sean Shaw.

Best of the rest

Tulsa Union vs. Southlake Carroll (Texas). Star power galore here featuring OU offers Obi Eboh (2016) and Robert Barnes (2017) for Southlake Carroll and Scout 300 prospect for the 2017 class Tre Brown of Union.

Broken Arrow at Owasso. A classic season-opener, this could be the most loaded Broken Arrow squad even if it doesn’t feel like there’s a superstar on the team outside of offensive lineman Rowdy Frederick. Owasso has a few names for 2016 like Caleb Colvin (Aaron’s brother), but this is more of a showcase of some of the younger players the Rams have.
