OKPreps Week 2 primer

It's Week 2 of the high school season, which means one thing - Jenks vs. Union.

We’re one week closer to the season. Not just for Oklahoma but in Oklahoma high school football as well.

To get you geared up, Sooners Illustrated is going to take a week-by-week glance at the top games featuring the most OU interest.

With the focus being purely Sooners, it’s not necessarily the games that feature the most star-studded recruits but the games that have the recruits with the most legitimate OU interest.

OKPreps Week 2

Jenks vs. Tulsa Union

Why watch: The Backyard Bowl actually doesn’t have as much of an OU flavor as in years past. It doesn’t look like any Jenks prospects are going to head to Norman with Austin Quillen (Vanderbilt) and Dillon Stoner (Oklahoma State) already committed.

But it’s still the best rivalry in the state as the two have traded off winning the state championship for the last 20 years, including Jenks gunning for its fourth in a row this season.

No, instead this is about the future and looking at names like Reese Leitao of Jenks and of course Tre Brown of Union. Brown is ranked No. 224 in the Scout 300 for the 2017 class.

Best of the rest

Moore Westmoore vs. Moore Southmoore. Southmoore is expected to be the “it” team of the west side of the state. Winning the rivalry would be a nice start. Westmoore features OU walk-on receiver commit Deshawn Lookout, while the SaberCats are loaded with names like Quindon Lewis (2017), Casey Thompson (2018) and Brey Walker (2018), among several others.

Harrah at Jones. Great battle here between the Panthers and Longhorns. Harrah is the home of OU offensive lineman commit Logan Roberson, while Jones features the stars of tomorrow today with 2017 quarterback Brandon George and 2018 wide receiver Sean Shaw.
