OKPreps Week 3 primer

Major games on both sides of the state as the OKPreps preview continues with Week 3.

We’re one week closer to the season. Not just for Oklahoma but in Oklahoma high school football as well.

To get you geared up, Sooners Illustrated is going to take a week-by-week glance at the top games featuring the most OU interest.

With the focus being purely Sooners, it’s not necessarily the games that feature the most star-studded recruits but the games that have the recruits with the most legitimate OU interest.

OKPreps Week 3

Edmond Santa Fe at Moore Southmoore

Why watch: Sooners Illustrated was at this game last year, and that’s when it became clear you were going to names like Quindon Lewis, Casey Thompson and Brey Walker for years to come.

So far, the trio as well as other Southmoore players have lived up to their billing on the recruiting trail. Now it’s time to see if they can make as much noise on the field as they can on the trail.

Lewis is already a Scout 300 prospect for 2017, while Thompson and Walker seem like sure bets for the 2018 class.

On the other side, Santa Fe brings incredibly talented running back Darran Williams, and the No. 1-ranked player in the state and only in-state recruit in the Scout 300 for the 2016 class, Calvin Bundage.

Best of the rest

Tulsa Union at Broken Arrow. A budding rivalry in the state and usually a preview of a future playoff matchup. Once again the focus returns to Tre Brown (2017) for Union, while Rowdy Frederick (2016) takes the spotlight for the Tigers.
