We’re one week closer to the season. Not just for Oklahoma but in Oklahoma high school football as well.
To get you geared up, Sooners Illustrated is going to take a week-by-week glance at the top games featuring the most OU interest.
With the focus being purely Sooners, it’s not necessarily the games that feature the most star-studded recruits but the games that have the recruits with the most legitimate OU interest.
OKPreps Week 5
Owasso at Moore Southmoore
Why watch: Southmoore is expected by most to be the hope of the west side of the state and beating Owasso would help legitimize that claim in a major way.
The SaberCats are loaded, including Texas Tech defensive end commit Noah Jones. Beyond that, though, it really is about the future with Scout 300 prospect Quindon Lewis (2017) and most likely Scout 300 prospects quarterback Casey Thompson (2018) and offensive lineman Brey Walker (2018).
Owasso has quality 2016 recruits, but the Rams seem to have their best days in front of them as well with a couple of underclassmen who might be ready to break out in 2015.
Best of the rest
Tulsa Union at Norman North. Another chance to shine for Union’s Tre Brown, ranked No. 224 in the Scout 300 for the 2017 class. Norman North features running back Quan Hogan as well as some intriguing 2017 prospects.
Checotah at Tulsa Victory Christian. Two of the best players in the lower classes. Checotah wide receiver Drew Dan, who tore it up at OU’s camp, against OU linebacker commit Jon-Michael Terry (Victory Christian).
