OKPreps Week 7 primer

The OKPreps series continues with Week 7 and a battle with two top 2017 in-state prospects.

We’re one week closer to the season. Not just for Oklahoma but in Oklahoma high school football as well.

To get you geared up, Sooners Illustrated is going to take a week-by-week glance at the top games featuring the most OU interest.

With the focus being purely Sooners, it’s not necessarily the games that feature the most star-studded recruits but the games that have the recruits with the most legitimate OU interest.

OKPreps Week 7

Tulsa Edison at Collinsville

Why watch: You’ll have to push aside 2016 and put all your focus on the 2017 class for this showdown. Collinsville features No. 1-ranked player in the state and No. 84 in the Scout 100 in linebacker Levi Draper.

Draper, with offers from Florida State and Alabama, among several others, committed to Oklahoma State last month but should remain a huge OU target going forward.

Tulsa Edison is the home to defensive back Marcus Mays. Yet another quality in-state defensive back for the 2017 class, Mays might end up being the best of the bunch. Offensive lineman Alex Criddle is also committed to Tulane.

Best of the rest

Edmond Santa Fe at Jenks. You want to make a statement? Win at Jenks. That’s the goal for this week with Santa Fe and No. 1-ranked prospect in the state for the 2016 class, Calvin Bundage.

Mustang at Moore Southmoore. Quarterbacks take the spotlight with Wyoming commit Chandler Garrett (Mustang) going against the best in the state for 2018 in Casey Thompson (Southmoore).
