OKPreps Week 8 primer

OKPreps preview continues with Week 8 and a major showdown on the east side of the state.

We’re one week closer to the season. Not just for Oklahoma but in Oklahoma high school football as well.

To get you geared up, Sooners Illustrated is going to take a week-by-week glance at the top games featuring the most OU interest.

With the focus being purely Sooners, it’s not necessarily the games that feature the most star-studded recruits but the games that have the recruits with the most legitimate OU interest.

OKPreps Week 8

Broken Arrow at Jenks

Why watch: The last few years this single game has been determining the district champion and who has the easier path in the state playoffs. It shouldn’t change this season.

By this point of the year, new teams and new players might emerge, but it sure feels like this is going to be the hot ticket for this week.

With names like Austin Quillen and Dillon Stoner for Jenks and Rowdy Frederick for Broken Arrow, there’s no shortage of star power on either side.

Best of the rest

OKC Douglass at OKC John Marshall. Douglass has been the king lately of the OKC Public Schools in terms of sending top recruits to quality programs. It could do the same this year with quarterback Patrick McKaufman, but John Marshall is bringing in highly touted offensive lineman Tramonda Moore and 2017 defensive back Justin Broiles. Moore has an OU offer.
