With the season just around the corner, Sooners Illustrated is going to take a shot at guessing who will be the 11 players who make the biggest impact for Oklahoma in the 2015 season.
This version of the OU 11 is not based on how important they are to the team, but instead is based on what their projected production will be in the eyes of publisher Bob Przybylo.
Each weekday we'll be counting them down. Without further ado, the OU 11: Best performers.
No. 11 C Ty Darlington
Darlington has spoken at length about what a difference this year’s offensive line is going to be compared to last season.
It’s not just the inexperience, but the mentality that will be a drastic change. OU had grown men on the line last year. This year there are a lot of little young pups that Darlington will have to get on the same page for the Sooners to succeed.
The good thing is Darlington said this style of offense doesn’t make you think too much. OU won’t be reacting to the defense. It’s going to make the calls, push the pace and make the defense react to what the offense is doing.
Darlington has become an incredible spokesperson for the university in the last 12 months, and if he can play on the field half as well as he can speak off of it, he should be in for a stellar senior season.
He’s gone from the inexperienced player to the veteran and leader of the line, and it will be his job to make sure the line continues to open up those holes for the running backs and protects the quarterbacks this season.
