The Oklahoma pass defense is off to a pretty remarkable start considering where the secondary was just a new months ago. After finishing last year as the 117th ranked team in pass defense, the Sooners are sixth in the nation right now.
It’s also better than at this point last year when the Sooners were ranked 53rd overall through two games.
Take it with a grain of salt, the Oklahoma secondary is.
“But at the same time, you have to acknowledge that you did some good,” Oklahoma corner back Jordan Thomas said. “Like I said, it’s the beginning of the season, and we have to keep it up.”
This week will be Oklahoma’s first real test – against an Air Raid-style offense that more resembles the Big 12 offenses. It’ll be a good test for the Sooners but will give everyone a better idea of how much better this secondary is under new defensive backs coach Kerry Cooks.
“That’s only two games,” Thomas said. “We have to keep it up for the rest of the season.”
