Miami (Okla.) NEO A&M three-star junior college cornerback Maurice Chandler announced Monday evening he is no longer committed to Oklahoma and has reopened his recruitment.
Chandler had been committed to OU since the middle of June and everything appeared to be just fine following his official visit back in September.
Chandler posted the news via Twitter.
At the time of his commitment, Chandler was the only defensive back pledge for the Sooners. In the time since, OU has added Waco (Texas) La Vega cornerback Parrish Cobb and Pittsburg (Calif.) High cornerback Jordan Parker, both four-star prospects ranked in the Scout 300.
Chandler’s junior college season is done so he will have the necessary time to find his fit at the next level. He doesn’t have a redshirt season left so he knows he has to go a place where he can make an impact immediately with two years to play.
With Chandler coming off the board, it gives OU 11 commitments for the Class of 2016 and three in the secondary as Shreveport (La.) Calvary Baptist safety Chanse Sylvie is also in the class and has actually signed his financial aid agreement with the university.
Chandler, before his commitment, had offers from Nebraska and Arizona State, among others, so he shouldn’t be hurting for a list of suitors.
