Linebackers Devante Bond and Jordan Evans return at "full go"

Oklahoma defensive coordinator Mike Stoops doesn't know who will start at middle linebacker

Oklahoma Sooners linebackers Devante Bond and Jordan Evans returned to practice Tuesday, defensive coordinator Mike Stoops said.

They were a "full go."

With Evans returning comes a new question for Oklahoma: What will happen to Frank Shannon? In just three games starting in place of Evans, Shannon has climbed up to sixth on the team in tackles. After missing all of last season because of off-the-field issues, Shannon saw limited action in the first five games of the season.

Evans returning won't exactly get his starting job back.

"They'll both play," said Stoops, who added that's he can trust both linebackers. "I'm not sure who is going to start. Hopefully, they'll both play."

Oklahoma doesn't usually rotate linebackers very often though.

Stoops said the same will be the case with PL Lindley and Bond, although it's much more likely that Bond will get his starting spot back. Lindley proved invaluable in his time starting as well.

"I felt PL has done an unbelievable job for us, just holding down the fort," Stoops said. "Maybe not as flashy as Devante but has done one heck of a job for us. Hopefully, we can continue to play both guys."

Stoops added that they hope they can feel more confident about Zack Sanchez next week.
