The commitment train for Oklahoma is picking up steam now as the Sooners have earned their third pledge in three days.
Butler (Kan.) Community College offensive guard Ben Powers confirms he has pledged to OU for the 2016 class Monday afternoon.
Powers, a fast-riser in the juco rankings, earned offers from Kansas State, Texas Tech, TCU and OU in the span of the last two weeks. Powers’ offer from the Sooners came when he was on his official visit last week for the TCU game.
He is also not the usual junior college commitment as Powers will have a lot of time to get familiar with offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh. Powers has four years to play three in terms of his eligibility.
Powers is No. 13 for the Sooners and the second official visitor to pledge from that TCU weekend. Durham (N.C.) Hillside running back Abdul Adams committed Saturday afternoon.
With Powers on the board, that should close things up for OU in terms of looking at interior linemen. OU already had the commitment of Harrah (Okla.) High offensive guard Logan Roberson.
Bedenbaugh was looking for one more, and he has found him in Powers. Bedenbaugh also earned a commitment from 2018 Moore (Okla.) Southmoore four-star offensive lineman Brey Walker on Saturday night.
