One play to epitomize OU is...

So many big plays this season for Oklahoma, but quarterback Baker Mayfield did select one play he said illustrates what the Sooners are about in 2015.

There have been a lot of memorable moments for Oklahoma in the 2015 season. A lot of fans are certainly hoping the best is still yet to come.

But if you had to pick one play, which one would it be? Obvious favorites including Baker Mayfield connecting with Sterling Shepard twice at Tennessee. Another one would be Mayfield extending the play to find Dimitri Flowers against Baylor.

Bedlam featured some fun ones with long touchdown runs by Samaje Perine and Joe Mixon. A lot to choose from. When asked, Mayfield didn’t pull any punches and picked one maybe not a lot of people think about.

“I don’t know. Against Baylor, there’s a play where Sterling actually caught a long touchdown and there was a people-still-hitting-us-in-mouth mindset,” Mayfield said. “We just came back and kept taking our shots. If they are going to blitz us, we’re going to take advantage of it and we’re going to be aggressive right back at them. That’s been kind of our mindset this year.”

The play Mayfield is referencing is in the second quarter of OU’s win at Baylor. The game was tied 6-6, and the Sooners faced a second-and-11.

Mayfield didn’t have a lot of time as Baylor brought the blitz. Perine did a tremendous job to pick one blitzer. Mayfield got pelted as he released the ball but had one-on-one coverage. He trusted Shepard to make a play, and Shepard did exactly that in diving for the pylon and the touchdown.
