School isn’t officially in session for Oklahoma until Tuesday so there could still be some last-minute surprises for the Sooners.
But all the recruits known as mid-year enrollees are all headed to Norman on Thursday to start the next chapter and their time at OU.
Sooners Illustrated examines the mid-year additions the Sooners are adding outside of the usual high school and junior college transfer prospects.
McAlester (Okla.) High ATH Dalton Wood (3-star, 2015)
The Intel: The prodigal son returns? We’ll find out if Wood can survive more than one day in Norman this time around. A three-star recruit that Bob Stoops was super pumped about for the 2015 class, Wood is starting all over as a walk-on after failing to report to Norman during the summer and for fall practices. He said nothing is going to stop him this time around. He’s got a chance to prove it and silence all the critics who are definitely doubting whether he’s in it for the long run.
QB Kyler Murray (Texas A&M, former 5-star QB)
The Intel: It’s a year later than some thought, but Murray is finally a Sooner. Following an uneven freshman season at Texas A&M, Murray elected to transfer. Although he still publicly has not said one word about joining OU, the university sent out the release Christmas Eve that Murray and the Sooners have agreed. As dynamic a talent as there has been in high school, Murray is not eligible for the 2016 season but his journey as a Sooner starts now.
