OU visit preview: Doucet, Beal

OU struck gold once at Lackawanna this recruiting cycle. Sooners look to do it again this weekend.

Oklahoma is back in the game. After sitting out last week in terms of official visits, the Sooners are back in full force this weekend.

With that in mind, Sooners Illustrated is going to give a quick primer for each visitor to get you ready for what could be a very interesting weekend in Norman.

Scranton (Pa.) Lackawanna CC OLB Kapri Doucet (No. 78 Scout Juco 100)

Sooners Illustrated’s take

OU has gone all-in with Doucet in the last two weeks ever since he decommitted from Arizona. Linebackers coach Tim Kish’s first visit after the dead period was to see Doucet. A recent offer from Arkansas has made things even more interesting, and we’re looking at a top three of OU, Louisville and Arkansas. Doucet visited Louisville last weekend and should follow this week’s OU trip with one to Fayetteville next weekend to close out his recruitment until Doucet shocked most and said he will announce Monday. Another example of OU trying to find outside linebacker help for this class.

OU’s chances

The Sooners are looking good here. The Hogs seem to be the real threat, but OU has a chance to separate itself from rest of field with this visit.

Scranton (Pa.) Lackawanna CC OLB Emmanuel Beal

Sooners Illustrated’s take

First glance, who? Yep, had to do some last-minute research about Beal this week as he was completely off the radar heading into the week. Has some offers like Arizona and Utah State, but nothing that screamed the Sooners are coming his way. Linebackers coach Tim Kish visited him earlier this week, and just like that, his visit to Arizona was canceled for a chance to see Norman. You watch his film, and he’s an Eric Striker clone. But how good is the competition? And how good would be he at the next level? No offer going into the visit.

OU’s chances

Feels like a done deal. OU offered. He wants to see the campus to make sure it’s got that home feel. Hard to imagine anything otherwise.
