Oklahoma was certainly not bashful in making offers this last weekend. The Sooners made four overall but three, perhaps more importantly, within the state.
Sooners Illustrated with a breakdown of all four offers, one-by-one. What they mean now and going forward.
Tulsa (Okla.) Union CB Tre Brown
Why this offer was important: This was a huge one to make right now because it was essentially a make-it-or-break-it moment with OU and Brown, ranked No. 246 in the Scout 300. The Sooners have known about Brown for a while and had him on the campus multiple times.
As Brown’s interest continues to soar with one major offer after another, the Sooners either had to make their move Saturday or be content in seeing him look elsewhere.
The knock on Brown is his size. He’s not the biggest, but he could very well be the fastest. Brown has track-level speed that has translated on the football field.
Add in his notable friendship with fellow OU commit Levi Draper, and this seems like a countdown toward a commitment more than anything else.
Other notable offers: In the last couple of weeks? Oklahoma State, Arizona State, Kansas State, South Carolina, just to name a few.
OU confidence level: High. OU did it right with Brown. The Sooners got him on campus multiple times before to build the bond. And when it was time to strike, it’s exactly what OU did. Making the offer in person can sometimes help, but it was more about the Sooners not wasting time in this instance.
