OU offer profile: Earnest Brown

Sooners Illustrated examines the offer to Earnest Brown.

Oklahoma was certainly not bashful in making offers this last weekend. The Sooners made four overall but three, perhaps more importantly, within the state.

Sooners Illustrated with a breakdown of all four offers, one-by-one. What they mean now and going forward.

Denton (Texas) Ryan DE Earnest Brown

Why this offer was important: Maybe it’s arrogance, but you know OU always feels like the sphere of influence covers all of the north Texas area, and the Sooners are getting in there earlier than most with Brown.

Brown is another example of a taller defensive end offer. Listed at 6-foot-5, Brown is somebody who can grow into his body and become a major force on the defensive end.

It was big for Brown to be able to make the trip, and it was big for the Sooners to be there to make the offer in person. Now it will be about building the bond even though OU doesn’t even have a defensive line coach right now.

Other notable offers: Keep it in the Big 12 right now with schools like Baylor and Kansas, but the next few months will be intriguing.

OU confidence level: Medium. Good to make the offer. Great to make it in person. But this one still has a ways to go before anything is settled.
