RECRUITING: Davis says he's a Sooner

Oklahoma's newest verbal commitment — Colleyville, Texas DE Alan Davis — talks about his decision to be a Sooner.

JH: You committed to OU tonight. Why did you decide to go ahead and commit to the Sooners?

AD: "It was a program that I have always liked. I love how they prepare their athletes to move on to the next level, and that is one of the main reasons why I had to go on and go ahead and commit to them."

JH: What is it about OU that gave the Sooners the nod?

AD: "It is such a winning program. The fact that I will get a chance at a couple of national championships didn't hurt my decision. A chance at a couple of major bowl games doesn't hurt and a chance at a couple of Big 12 Championships didn't hurt either. I just loved the coaches down their. Getting to know Coach (Brent) Venables, Coach (Bob) Stoops and Coach (Bobby Jack) Wright has been a great pleasure and you can tell all three are straight up men who love coaching football."

JH: Coach Venables recruited you, so how much did your relationship with him influence your decision?

AD: "The relationship with Coach Venables helped my decision a lot. He has basically made my decision easy, but once I got to know coach Venables I realized that if he was a representative of the coaching staff at OU then OU had a great coaching staff. I really like Coach Wright as well and I look forward to playing for him at OU."

JH: Who else did you consider before deciding on OU?

AD: "I considered LSU and Nebraska in the end."

JH: How are your workouts going this summer?

AD: "They have gone great. We start two-a-days August 11 and we have just finished off our summer workout program. So, we are in great shape and we will be going into two a-days on a full sprint."

JH: Are you glad recruiting is over?

AD: "Now I can just focus on my senior year and just be productive my senior year."
