CeeDee Lamb decommits from OU

Scout 300 wide receiver CeeDee Lamb decommits from Oklahoma.

SoonerSquad17 took its first hit of the cycle Friday morning as Richmond (Texas) Foster wide receiver CeeDee Lamb tweeted he has decommitted from Oklahoma and will explore more options.

Lamb, ranked No. 289 in the Scout 300, was OU’s first commitment at wide receiver back in early December. Rumors have been swirling around his pledge the last couple of months, but Lamb had always said he was 100 percent with OU.

Since Lamb’s commitment, the Sooners have also picked up two more Scout 300 receivers in Cedar Hill (Texas) High’s Charleston Rambo and Waxahachie (Texas) High’s Jalen Reagor.

In the near five months of being committed to OU, it didn’t slow down the recruiting process for Lamb, who has received offers from schools like Texas A&M, Florida and one of his dream schools, LSU, along the way.

Although Lamb didn’t say flat out OU was out of consideration, it will be intriguing to watch what the Sooners do from here with the third receiver spot opening up.

Wide receivers coach Dennis Simmons has developed a great relationship with Lamb over the last year so we’ll see how things progress.

Lamb had an outstanding Opening regional in Houston earlier this month and will no doubt have plenty of suitors looking his way.

The loss of Lamb puts OU’s class at 11 commitments with nine being in the Scout 300, still keeping them ranked No. 2 in Scout’s 2017 rankings.
