One of the most frequently asked questions regarding Oklahoma and in-state prospects has been when will Moore Southmoore quarterback Casey Thompson be offered?
That question is now obsolete as OU offered the four-star 2018 quarterback Wednesday evening, capping an incredible 24-hour period for Thompson.
Thompson, who already has an impressive list of offers, was offered by Ohio State on Tuesday evening. Coincidentally, Ohio State is No. 1 and OU is No. 2 currently in Scout rankings for the 2017 class.
Thompson, of course, is a 2018 prospect although you wouldn’t know it by his production on the field in the last two years.
As a sophomore, Thompson was 167-of-271 passing for 2,670 yards with 32 touchdowns and four interceptions. He also rushed for 1,011 yards on 136 attempts with 20 more scores, averaging 7.4 yards per rush.
The name Thompson and OU have become synonymous with one another. Casey’s father, Charles Thompson, played quarterback for the Sooners. His older brother, Kendal, was a one-time OU quarterback before transferring to Utah following the 2013 season.
The relationship never soured, however, after Kendal’s departure. And with the arrival of Lincoln Riley as offensive coordinator for the Sooners, one of his first priorities has been reaching out to Casey Thompson time and time again.
Thompson is the second 2018 prospect from Southmoore to be offered by the Sooners. Four-star offensive tackle Brey Walker committed to OU back in December.
