DERRICK HARVEY, DE, 6'5, 230, 4.6 GREENBELT ROSEVELT, MARYLAND:
Harvey is an athlete that has emerged as one of the top defensive end prospects in the country. Blessed with great size, Harvey has tremendous mobility for a man his size and he is tremendous rushing the quarterback. The great thing about Harvey is that last year was his first year to play football and he had a great year coming up with 85 tackles and 15 sacks.
"I was playing basketball and I have always played basketball before last season," said Harvey. "I realized I wasn't getting recruited that hard in basketball, so I decided to give football a try.
"Two-a-days were tough on me because I didn't know what to expect, but after the game came pretty easy for me. Rushing the passer has been pretty easy for me."
Harvey can bench 335 pounds, squats 495 and he has a 39.5 inch vertical jump. Harvey went to the Maryland and Virginia summer camps and performed very well at both.
Harvey has been offered by 24 different colleges, so his move to football is obviously working out.
"I am very happy with what I am doing," said Harvey. "When I keep working hard I am going to get better and better."
Harvey says he likes Oklahoma, Miami, Ohio State, Kansas State, USC and Arizona State as his favorites.
"I am trying to stay wide open, but I have some favorite schools that I like. I have watched Oklahoma the past couple of years on television in big games," said Harvey. "I have watched them win a National Championship and they were great in the Rose Bowl last year. They have a great program and I would love being a part of that. It looks good for me visiting Oklahoma."
