Red River Showdown between OU and Texas headed to Fox Sports 1

OU and Texas will have a new broadcast home, headed to Fox.

There will be a new broadcast home for the Red River Showdown between Oklahoma and Texas as the conference announced Fox Sports 1 will televise the annual showdown between the Sooners and Longhorns.

The exact time for the Oct. 8 matchup at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas is still to be determined, but for the first time in a long time (since 1998), ABC/ESPN will not be the broadcasting partner.

The conference also released OU’s home opener in the renovated stadium against ULM will be 6 p.m. CST on Sept. 10 and will be televised on a pay-per-view basis by Fox Sports Oklahoma.

A week after that, Ohio State comes to Norman for the eagerly anticipated showdown between the Sooners and Buckeyes. Kickoff time for that was announced at 6:30 p.m. CST. Once again, ABC/ESPN not the broadcast partner. Instead, the game will be on FOX.

The other start time announced was for OU’s game at Iowa State. The Thursday, Nov. 3 contest will take place at 6:30 p.m. CST in Ames, Iowa, on ESPN.

Two weeks ago OU’s season opener against Houston was announced as an 11 a.m. kickoff at NRG Stadium.
