Punter Reeves Mundschau commits to OU

OU goes to special teams for its latest SoonerSquad17 member, Reeves Mundschau.

Another day, another Oklahoma commitment. This one, though, not from a position a lot of people were expecting.

New Braunfels (Texas) Canyon punter Reeves Mundchau confirmed he has become No. 15 to OU’s SoonerSquad17 class. The commitment was released via Twitter by Kohl’s Kicking on Monday evening, and Mundschau later confirmed it was true.

Mundschau said he has been recruited by OU special teams coach Jay Boulware. The Kohl’s Kicking and Boulware combination worked before at OU with Austin Seibert, who will be entering his sophomore season this fall.

Mundschau, listed at 6-foot and 170 pounds, is the No. 3-ranked punter for the 2017 class by Kohl’s Kicking.

“Mundschau had an outstanding showing at the 2016 Kohl's Underclassman Challenge,” said Kohl’s Kicking in its evaluation of Mundschau. “He was one of the top charted punters at camp and had some impressive drill work throughout the event. He hit the highest punts at camp.

“His leg strength was impressive with multiple 5.0 hang-times at the Underclassman Challenge during the competition phase at camp. He is very consistent.”

Mundschau is OU’s second commitment in back-to-back days. Charlotte (N.C.) Vance three-star H-Back Jeremiah Hall announced his pledge to the Sooners on Sunday.
