How serious is it getting with Oklahoma trying to lure Houston Bellaire Episcopal defensive tackle Marvin Wilson to Norman? Gerald McCoy is getting involved on Twitter.
McCoy, a former five-star signee who excelled at OU and now with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, sent multiple tweets to Wilson on Monday evening.
Wilson, the No. 1-ranked defensive tackle in the nation and ranked No. 9 overall in the Scout 100, has OU in his initial top 10 he released Saturday night.
Wilson made his first trip to OU less than two weeks ago, and the Sooners are hoping he’ll return one more time before the summer is over.
OU doesn’t have a defensive tackle commit for the 2017 class and didn’t have one for the 2016 class. OU has been able to become a legitimate player for Wilson thanks in large part to first-year defensive line coach Calvin Thibodeaux connecting immediately with Wilson since returning to Norman.
McCoy was the third overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft.
