Oklahoma freshman wide receiver Adrian Hardy is no longer with the program, multiple sources confirmed to Sooners Illustrated on Friday morning.
Hardy, a three-star receiver from Houston Spring Dekaney, arrived in Norman earlier this month. SoonerScoop first reported the news.
All throughout his recruitment, it always felt like Hardy and OU were a strange pairing, but offensive coordinator Lincoln Riley seemed to be really excited about Hardy joining the fold when discussing Hardy on signing day.
“He won’t be the least talked about for very long,” said offensive coordinator Lincoln Riley on signing day. “I think he’s one of the top athletes regardless of position in this class. Coach Gundy and coach Simmons and I saw him last spring and were blown away by him. We thought he was an incredible athlete that was a little overlooked because of the position he played.”
Hardy was one of three wide receivers signed for OU’s 2016 class and is the latest defection from that group. Redshirt freshman John Humphrey transferred to Arizona State during the spring, while junior Michiah Quick will be attempting to make the switch from receiver to cornerback.
Fellow 2016 signee receivers Zach Farrar and Mykel Jones are both already in Norman and going through workouts.
