Oklahoma had been stuck on one commit for the 2018 class for a while but that all changed Thursday afternoon.
Lancaster (Texas) High defensive back Jordon Austin announced his commitment to the Sooners via Twitter to give OU two Scout 300 prospects for the 2018 class.
Austin, ranked No. 187 in the initial Scout 300 last week, is the younger brother of OU senior cornerback Dakota Austin. Can’t say little as Jordon is already taller than Dakota, and OU has gotten to know Jordon extremely well over the years.
Jordon Austin first camped at OU two years ago and his first offer came from the Sooners rather unexpectedly during his unofficial visit for the spring game in April.
Other schools have been showing solid interest, but it did feel like it was another case of defensive backs coach Kerry Cooks striking early and leaving all the other schools in the dust.
Jordon Austin was back in Norman for OU’s camp last month. Not only did he show up, but he showed out as well, easily separating himself among the group that was in Norman as one of the top performers.
Austin joins Moore (Okla.) Southmoore offensive tackle Brey Walker as the foundation for Savage Team 2K18 (#ST2K18). Walker, committed to OU since November, is a five-star prospect ranked No. 10 overall in the initial Scout 100.
