One more sign we’re getting closer to football season? First sellout announced for Oklahoma’s season. No shock to anybody at all the initial game this year is Ohio State.
The Buckeyes will make their first trip to Norman since 1983, and OU announced the game is officially a sellout
"Coming off another outstanding championship season and with the unveiling of the new south end zone seating and amenities, we've seen a tremendous outpouring of support from our fans," said OU Vice President and Director of Athletics Joe Castiglione. "There is a lot of positive momentum as we head into 2016.
“The Ohio State game will attract the largest crowd ever to see a football game in our state, and with the kind of interest we're seeing, it won't be surprising if other games are similarly attended.
“Sooner fans have long been known for their enthusiastic support, and my sense is that they're taking it to an even higher level for this season."
OU is 96-8 at home under head coach Bob Stoops, and the Sooners went undefeated last season. Ohio State comes to OU on Sept. 17, with the Sooners returning the favor and heading to Columbus next year.
The Buckeyes (.722) and Sooners (.720) rank third and fourth in all-time winning percentage, and have combined for 1,736 victories and 12 national titles. Since 2000, OU and Ohio State are tied for the lead in wins among Power 5 conference teams with 170 each.
