The worst-kept secret was revealed Monday evening as Richmond (Texas) Foster wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is headed back to Oklahoma.
The four-star prospect announced his re-commitment to the Sooners via Twitter and is once again a member of SoonerSquad17.
Lamb, ranked No. 271 in the Scout 300, committed to OU back in December based largely on his relationship with wide receivers coach Dennis Simmons.
Even though Lamb was incredibly tight with Simmons and staff, there was always the feeling of the other shoe dropping once more big-time offers came his way.
They did, and the shoe did drop back in April with Lamb announcing his decommitment from OU. The misconception there was that Lamb and OU broke off communication, which couldn’t be any further from the truth.
Lamb was upfront and honest about his decision, and OU didn’t turn its back on him. He wanted to see more schools. He did just that. No problem. Lamb visited multiple SEC schools and got a better feel of exactly where he wanted to be.
As May turned into June, it became clear that not only was OU a player in the race, but the Sooners had established themselves as the favorite once again.
Nothing changed in July and it was only good news for OU fans when Lamb announced earlier this month July 25 was going to be his decision date.
With Lamb back in the fold, that gives OU three receivers in the Scout 300 from the state of Texas with Cedar Hill (Texas) High’s Charleston Rambo and Waxahachie (Texas) High’s Jalen Reagor.
OU most likely is looking for one more receiver to fill out this group, but when you’ve got Lamb, Rambo and Reagor, you can sit back comfortably and know the future is in good hands.
Lamb makes it No. 12 for the Sooners in terms of number of OU commits in the Scout 300. Twelve out of 16, equivalent to 75 percent so far. To put that in perspective, OU had six for its entire 2016 class.
Lamb will be one of many commits and top targets headed to Norman on Friday for a first-time invite-only BBQ event.
