Missouri City (Texas) Fort Bend Elkins linebacker Kenneth Murray said he would commit Aug. 10, and he delivered as promised.
And it means another commitment for Oklahoma in what has been one incredibly successful week for the Sooners on the trail.
Murray, ranked No. 31 at outside linebacker, made it official and committed to the Sooners at a special ceremony at his school Wednesday morning.
The Sooners offered Murray in the spring, and in his tweet to announce the offer, he mentioned OU was one of his childhood favorites.
The issue, however, was that despite Murray saying all the right things regarding OU, he never actually visited Norman until July 29. Trips to Texas and Texas A&M were cause for concern with Sooner fans until Murray made it for #ChampUBBQ.
Murray already liked OU, but there was just a different vibe when he was able to see the campus with his family. And that’s where the real connection was made and what pretty much solidified Murray becoming the latest member of SoonerSquad17.
The OU coaching staff connected immediately with Murray and his family, and it became readily apparent it was indeed a game-changing visit.
Murray is OU’s first commit at outside linebacker and second linebacker overall, joining Scout 100 inside linebacker Levi Draper.
Murray is No. 18 for OU’s impressive 2017 class and the third commit of the week for the Sooners.
The good times started Sunday morning with Newbury Park (Calif.) High quarterback Cameron Rising committing for 2018 and continued Monday with Shawnee (Okla.) High center Creed Humphrey flipping from A&M to OU.
Now Murray as the good times continue to roll in Norman.
