Position: Offensive lineman
Hometown: Ventura, Calif.
High School: St. Bonaventure
JH: Was it tough for you to play this weekend considering the terrible tragedy in New York City and Washington D.C.?
JB: The tragedy in New York City and Washington D.C. greatly effected me and my teammates. We are a catholic school and we didn't play the game because of the tragedy. We were scheduled to play our arch-rival Newhall Hart and we were very bummed out we couldn't play the game. However, we totally understand why. Hart is a very good team and they are a bigger school than our school. Unfortunately it got canceled, but I can understand why.
JH: Did you want to play in the game?
Yeah, definitely I would have. By them canceling our game I had to practice for an hour-and-a-half or two hours and then come home and watch the news on TV. That just depressed me more. From what I can tell my teammates felt the same way and a number of our fans did as well.
JH: How is your season going thus far?
JB: We are 2-0 thus far and I have played pretty good. I guess I have played good enough to play winning football. I could always play better. In the first game I graded out at 93 percent and the last game 98. I have seven pancake blocks thus far this season. In the second game I was going against a 300-pounder and he wasn't easy to move. He was a very physical player and battled pretty hard.
JH: Has recruiting changed at all for you?
JB: I went to South Bend back in June and gave them a soft commitment. That commitment is now solid. I still hear from Oklahoma, but I am going to tell them that I am going to stick with my commitment to Notre Dame.
Recruiting: California OL is heading east
