Oklahoma Sooners made the cut for an official visit from 2017 5-star PG Trae Young

Young announces he will make an official visit to Oklahoma on Sept. 16, the weekend of the Sooners football game against Ohio State

The Oklahoma Sooners top 2017 target, 5-star point guard Trae Young, announced Wednesday that the Sooners are one of four school to which he has scheduled an official visit.

Oklahoma, Kentucky and Kansas are widely considered to be Young's top three. He also has a visit scheduled to Texas Tech, his father's alma mater. In his announcement on Twitter, he listed Washington and Oklahoma State as to-be-determined official visits. Recruits are only allowed to take five officials so he'll have to pick between one of those two schools or cancel an official visit.

Young was recently ranked as the No. 22 overall prospect and the No. 3 point guard for the 2017 class.

Young, who recently announced that he was staying at Norman North for his final high school season, averaged 27 points and seven assists during the Nike Peach Jam championship and was named co-MVP. He went 24-for-51 from behind the 3-point arc in arguably the most competitive tournament in the nation this summer.
