It’s going to be a who’s who in Norman next weekend for the long awaited showdown between Oklahoma and Ohio State.
Add one more. Houston Bellaire Episcopal defensive tackle Marvin Wilson announced Sunday evening his first official visit will be to see the Sooners.
When Sooners Illustrated watched Wilson, ranked the No. 1 defensive tackle in the country, he said the initial plan might have been to use an unofficial visit to watch the Sooners and Buckeyes. It’s clear those plans have changed.
This will be OU’s second shot at Wilson as the five-star prospect visited Norman back in June although wasn’t there as long as originally hoped.
Wilson is one of two five-star prospects already confirmed to be in Norman with South Grand Prairie (Texas) High’s Jeffrey Okudah confirming during the summer that OU would be his first official visit as well.
The visitors list will be something to monitor all week between OU’s commits for the 2017 and 2018 classes and top uncommitted prospects for the 2017 class.
Despite the opening day loss to Houston, this matchup has not lost any of its luster in recruiting. The latest rankings have OU No. 14 in both polls, while Ohio State is ranked No. 3 in the AP Top 25 poll and No. 4 in the coaches edition.
The game will be 6:30 p.m. CST on FOX. The late start also gives OU an added bonus of allowing recruits a lot of time to visit and make sure they’re in Norman.
