Running back was a major key for Oklahoma when it came to the 2017 class, but consider it a job well done by Jay Boulware.
The final piece to the puzzle was added with Mansfield (Texas) High running back Kennedy Brooks announcing his commitment to the Sooners on Monday morning.
Brooks visited OU back in March and many thought the Sooners were going to be the school for him. But as weeks turned into months, it looked like the two sides had drifted apart.
OU has a lot of questions at running back for the 2017 season. Both Samaje Perine and Joe Mixon could decide to leave early and enter the NFL Draft. Then there are concerns regarding the health of Rodney Anderson, who has had back-to-back season-ending injuries.
Brooks alleviates some of those concerns, for sure. Ranked No. 117 in the Scout 300, Brooks is the 15th of OU’s commits to be ranked in the Scout 300.
Brooks has been sensational as a senior at Mansfield, rushing for 1,185 yards on 119 attempts with 16 touchdowns already this year.
Brooks is the third OU running back commit for the class to join fellow Scout 300 back Trey Sermon and junior college jack-of-all-trades recruit Marcelias Sutton.
