Charles Walker out for Sooners (concussion)

Another OU player is going to miss time because of concussions. This time around it's Charles Walker.

Add another one to the concussion list for Oklahoma. Head coach Bob Stoops announced Wednesday evening defensive lineman Charles Walker will miss the showdown with Texas because of a concussion suffered in OU’s win at TCU.

“We’ll also be without Charles Walker,” Stoops said. “Guess he said he got a concussion sometime in the game the other night. He’ll be out.”

Walker is just the latest from OU to be going through concussion protocol. OU will also be without Will Johnson, who suffered a concussion against Ohio State three weeks ago.

This comes on the heels of OU losing linebacker Tay Evans, whose football career was announced to be over earlier this week because of concussion issues.

The Sooners have also had to play without defensive lineman Matt Romar and wide receiver Dahu Green because of concussion issues earlier this season.

Losing Walker is a major blow, especially coming off perhaps his best game of the season against the Horned Frogs.

With Walker out and most likely Matt Dimon as well, this could be the afternoon for young guys like Neville Gallimore and Amani Bledsoe to try to make their imprint on the Red River Showdown.
