You almost wonder how he was still on the market. For as good as Mansfield (Texas) High running back Kennedy Brooks has been throughout his career and during senior season, still seems like he was completely undervalued and under the radar.
Regardless, things worked out well for Brooks and Oklahoma with the Scout 300 running back committing to the Sooners earlier this week.
Brooks is the final piece to OU’s running back puzzle and a good one at that. He has rushed for 1,185 yards on 119 attempts with 16 touchdowns, averaging more than nine yards per carry.
He’s a throwback to what running backs used to be all about. He’s someone who wants to carry the rock at least 20 times a game, and Sooners Illustrated is going to get its first crack at Brooks this evening.
Mansfield is playing Arlington Martin, and it will be the first game for Brooks as an OU commit and hopefully the start of a nice weekend for Brooks and the Sooners. Brooks is also expected to be in attendance Saturday for the Red River Showdown between OU and Texas.
Brooks is the highest-ranked OU running back commit since Joe Mixon, a five-star recruit, for the 2014 class.
