The hunt for a defensive tackle got a little bit easier today for Oklahoma as the Sooners nab their first one for the 2017 class.
Weatherford (Texas) High defensive tackle Zack McKinney was offered by OU on Saturday afternoon and committed right then and there.
McKinney, a three-star prospect, was once committed to Kansas and was actually offered by Texas last night.
OU defensive line coach Calvin Thibodeaux has been searching far and wide to find some big bodies for the defensive line and might have found an under the radar gem in McKinney.
“You can’t go wrong with Oklahoma,” McKinney said. “You just can’t go wrong with the Sooners.”
McKinney is the 23rd member of OU’s highly touted SoonerSquad17 class, currently ranked No. 4 by Scout.
Thibodeaux will no doubt continue to search for one more difference maker, but he’s on the board at a crucial position of need for OU.
“I don’t even know what to say,” McKinney said. “It’s the University of Oklahoma. Let’s just leave it right there.”
